A nut-free trail mix – yes, please!

If you’re like me, you’re always on the hunt for a snack that is safe, yummy and, of course, healthy for your kids, without all that crazy sugar! And let’s not forget easily accessible (available at a local supermarket). NOT an easy feat. Luckily for me, I ran across Enjoy Life’S Not Nuts!™ seed and fruit mix this past weekend, and I was really pleased to see this addition to their ever-expanding line of allergy-friendly foods. I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with their CEO, Scott Mandell, and their Chief Marketing Officer, Joel Warady, a couple of years ago when their company only offered a very small assortment of cookies, and I’ve been watching their allergy-free offerings grow by leaps and bounds at my local supermarket.

So I must add, I was a little bit hesitant to try it at first. In all honesty, after all this is a blog, my kids have not been a huge fan of some of their cookies in the past. A couple years back, my daughter actually exclaimed once after taking a bite, “How are people supposed to enjoy life if they have to eat these cookies?!” I almost fell off my chair! Regardless, since then we’ve enjoyed many of their snacks, including the nut-free trail mix which gets…. a big two thumbs up.  My kids loved it, and I did too!

According to the manufacturer’s website, there are a couple of different flavors, but I got the Mountain Mambo® mix. It has seeds (pumpkin and sunflower), fruits (cranberries, raisins and apples) and chocolate chips (can’t go wrong there!). While obviously peanut- and nut-free, it’s also free of the other top six allergens, as well as gluten, sesame and more!

I thought it was impossible to find a safe treat like this, but to find one AND it be healthy and delicious… I’m pretty excited, if you can’t tell! : ) Enjoy Life Foods has a product locator on their website, so you can see which stores near you sell their products. They also have a page for coupons – can’t beat those!

I’ll plan to share other foods and products that are safe for your little ones and family as I run across them. And of course, please feel free to share what you find with the AllerMates community via the comments below or on our Facebook page!
