And the most common asthma trigger is…
As parents and caregivers of children with allergies and/or asthma, it’s so important that we educate ourselves as much as can to help keep our asthmatic children safe and healthy!
So here is a little test for you…
As you probably already know, identifying what your child’s asthma triggers and helping them avoid those triggers is essential in managing your child’s asthma.
Do you know which of these is the most common asthma trigger among children:
a) second hand smoke
b) cats
c) colds
d) house mites?
If you answered c) colds, you got it right!
Second hand smoke, cats, house mites and dust are common asthma triggers, but viral infections, flu, colds and similar ailments are the most common. These triggers cause the most asthma symptoms, and if asthma has not been well controlled, they can lead to an asthma attack and possibly a visit to the emergency room. Bottom line, be sure to take those maintenance medicines for asthma, especially this time of year when sickness is rampant. Our medicine cases are meant to help maintain those precious asthma inhalers.
Take care of yourselves.
