Keep Kids with Food Allergies Safe This Easter!
As we inch closer and closer to Easter, many parents of kids with food allergies may be getting nervous at the thought of peanuts, nuts and dairy in Easter candies. Kids with food allergies don’t want to feel deprived, especially during a fun holiday like Easter where they should be digging through a basket of treats! So, is there a way to have an allergy-free and fun Easter? Short answer: YES! Follow these tips for an Easter holiday full of fun and free of allergens:
Always read labels.
As always, when it comes to keeping kids with food allergies safe, it’s all about reading the food labels. Luckily, there’s this handy list of allergy-friendly Easter candies that makes shopping for kids much easier for parents. Many of these candies might have to be ordered online, so be sure to start planning ahead of time.

Remind teachers.
If your kiddo’s school is planning on having some sort of Easter celebration or candy exchange in class, be sure to talk with teachers beforehand to remind them of your kid’s allergies. If possible, try to provide the teacher safe foods for your kid to eat, so you can guarantee that he or she won’t consume anything with allergens.
Use egg and dye alternatives.
Does your kiddo have an egg allergy? That can definitely put a damper on dyeing Easter eggs, but it doesn’t have to! Purchase an egg alternative, such as EggNots, ceramic Easter eggs specially designed for kids with an egg allergy. These ceramic eggs can be dyed the same as regular eggs, meaning kids won’t have to feel like they’re missing out on this fun and colorful tradition. For food dye allergies, try using an all-natural alternative like Color Garden Food Dyes which we love so much, we included them in our December subscription boxes for kids with food allergies!
We hope these tips will help you take the stress out of planning an Easter for your kids with food allergies! Remember, every holiday should be about spending time with family and creating precious memories!
