DID YOU KNOW?

The cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown. For kids with type 1 diabetes, no one knows for sure why it happens. It may be something that runs in your family, or it may be triggered by exposure to certain viruses.

Keeping TAB on diabetes!

Hey there, I hear you have diabetes or want to know more about it. Well, you’ve come to the right dude! My name is Tab, or you can call me T-1D. Me and my brother, Tucker (AKA T-2D), just came off the road. Our band, N’ Silin, has been on tour for a while now, playing our songs for kids with diabetes around the world. Since I have a few minutes, I wanted to come by and chat with you a bit.

First, I want to say that I know having diabetes can be challenging, but there’s no doubt you can do it. Sure, it takes some discipline, but in doing the things that are necessary, you can have the most normal life possible. My advice to you is to stay on schedule – eating and taking your meds right when you need to – and make healthy choices. That means choosing nutritious foods and getting regular exercise.

Our friends at AllerMates have some other helpful tips, and they’ve created a lot of cool things to help you learn to be safe AND have fun. So kick back, check out the links to the left and visit as often as you’d like.

As for me, I gotta go wake Tucker for band practice. He stayed up all night with his friends and has been sleeping all day. Hmm… where’s my pencil? That just gave me an idea for a song!

Until next time, my friend, be well.
